Behind the Disguise, There Shall Be Love is a personal tribute to Roy Lichtenstein — not through imitation, but through emotional continuation.
Lichtenstein’s art has always struck me for its ability to express raw human feelings — heartbreak, longing, vulnerability — through a highly stylized, pop aesthetic. His characters felt deeply, and loudly.
In this project, I recreated three of his iconic compositions, but replaced the original figures with Batman and Wonder Woman — two characters known for strength, restraint, and a famously unspoken love story. For comic fans, their hidden relationship is part of the mythology. For me, it became the perfect metaphor.
Because that’s what many of us do: we feel, but we hide it.
We wear strength like armor. We protect our hearts behind symbols.
But behind it all, we’re still human. We still long. We still love.
We wear strength like armor. We protect our hearts behind symbols.
But behind it all, we’re still human. We still long. We still love.
This project isn’t a parody. It’s about tenderness — and the quiet truth that, even in disguise, love finds a way through.
